What is the Better Search extension for Firefox?

Better Search is a slick addition to the Firefox browser that changes the way search results are displayed and adds some extra options for maximizing your web-searches.

Some of the features include:

- Open the search results in a new page (without having to right click)...so you don't have to leave your search results

- Preview a website to see what you will get when you go there.

- Repeat the same search using a different search engine. There are some cool ones out there!

How to configure the Firefox Better Search extension?

1. After you download the Better Search extension you will need to restart Firefox.

2. Now go to the 'Tools' menu at the top your browser and click on 'extensions' or 'Add-ons'. This will bring up a list of the extension you have installed.

3. Find the Better Search extension and click options.

4. Here you will be able to change your preferences.

The following is how we set it up. Of course you can play until you see what you like.

Click on the Enhancements tab and select the following leaving the rest un-checked
+ Show 'open in new window' link
+ Enable quick preview

Click on the Thumbnails tab
+ Zooming thumbnails

(The Sites tab allows you to choose other search engine links to have on google searches. Some are pretty cool so try a few out.)

Now remember that this extension will change how searches are done whenever using Firefox. While we like it, it may not be for you.

If you want to delete it go to your 'extensions' in the Tools menu select Better Search and click uninstall.
